PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — One person has died after he was shot at the intersection of High Street and Frederick Boulevard in Portsmouth Friday afternoon, police said. (WAVY Photo - Deja Parker) Portsmouth Police told 10 On Your Side's Deja Parker that the person was in critical condition after a shooting that took place around 2:45 p.m. Officers arriving at the scene found a man suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, but he later died at a local hospital as a result of his injuries, Portsmouth Police said. Police Chief Stephen Jenkins is among those at the scene and Portsmouth Police are investigating the shooting. Police said the man's next of kin has been notified.
