NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Three kids between the ages of 11 and 16 years old have been arrested in the rash of school threats in New Orleans. "I'm not a tough talker. I'm not a cheap talker. But I'm going to be clear: we're coming," said New Orleans Police Department Chief Anne Kirkpatrick. With social media threats against schools continuing in New Orleans, Superintendent Kirkpatrick is sending out a clear message to those responsible. "People do think that when some things are not, that we can't find you. You would be very wrong. You're very wrong. It is all traceable. It is all. You cannot hide behind anonymity," said Kirkpatrick. Early dismissal at G.W. Carver High School due to threat made NOPD Deputy Chief Ryan Lubrano says 16 schools have faced threats since it began. The three students identified as suspects in the investigation were arrested on Friday and accused of terrorizing. "[In] two incidents the students arrested or charged attend the schools that they allegedly threatened. In the case of Sophie B. Wright High School, a 16-year-old who attends another school made that threat," said Lubrano. Investigators say a hit list was even posted online with the names of students at George Washington Carver High School, and that some of the threats stemmed from bullying. "This might be the children are crying out, and they're going through this way of doing it, which is not okay. We do want to get people's help. We want to keep people safe. But parents shouldn't be in fear. Our children shouldn't have been here," said Kirkpatrick. Second Calliope encampment closure possible ahead of Thanksgiving, Bayou Classic "No one should ever sit back and not address [what they're] seeing. As a parent, as anyone who's out there who's reposting, I think about the students first. Don't repost this information. Send it to the authorities,” said Darlene Cusanza, Executive Director of Greater New Orleans Crimestoppers. Kirkpatrick says it is time to put an end to it all. "We this police department, and with our partners, I am committed to making sure that this stops," said Kirkpatrick. The NOPD says they expect additional arrests as they continue their investigation.
