Indianapolis Zoo announces theme for Zoobilation 2025: Giant Shellabration
Nov 15, 2024
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Zoo has announced the theme for Zoobilation 2025 — Giant Shellabration.
The event will recognize the zoo's new Giant Tortoise exhibit. The Indy Zoo will add two Giant Tortoises to its roster during Memorial Day weekend 2025.
The zoo's new tortoise species will be Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises. Such tortoises can measure up to four feet long, weigh several hundred pounds and live 150 years or longer. Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises can go weeks or even months without food or water, and they sleep for up to 16 hours a day.
Zoobilation — which is the Midwest's largest black-tie fundraising event — will be held on June 13, 2025. The fundraiser will feature live music, premium food, wine and other specialty drinks. The event helps the Indianapolis Zoo care for the 1,400 animals and 48,000 plants on its property. Funding also allows the zoo to support global conservation initiatives.
The Indianapolis Zoo is the largest privately funded zoo in the U.S. and it receives no direct annual tax support revenue.
Tickets for Zoobilation 2025 go on sale on Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. They can be purchased on the zoo's website at that time.
Premium admission to the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on June 13. General admission gates will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight.
