ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a drive-by shooting that ended in the death of a 19-year-old in March 2021. On Friday, the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) arrested Jalan Carpenter in connection to the killing of John Peterson in 2021. Carpenter was arrested during a high-risk traffic stop at the intersection of Lima and Wallen Road. Peterson, 19, was found dead in the driver's seat of a vehicle after being shot several times. In the initial call, police were called to the area of Reed Road and Vance Avenue on reports of shots being fired. According to the FWPD, the shooting happened in the area and Peterson drove off, later succumbing to his injuries. Police later asked for the public's help to identify the person of interest, releasing photos of the suspects' vehicle. Carpenter faces a preliminary charge of murder and is currently being held at the Allen County Jail.
