The Salvation Army says the community lunch will be from 11 a.m. through 1:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, at the Red Shield Family Center located at 4300 E Paisano Drive.
The meal will include smoked turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, a bread roll, pie and soda.
Anyone interested in receiving a free Thanksgiving meal will need to pick up a ticket from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m. at the front desk of the Salvation Army located at 4300 E Paisano.
"Last year, over 1,000 Thanksgiving Meals were provided with most being distributed during the drive-thru. The Salvation Army also provides Thanksgiving meals to the shelter, soup kitchen, and County Migrant Center," the Salvation Army said.
The Salvation Army says Union Draft House and Five Points Lions Club will be volunteering one week before the holiday to shred turkeys and help prepare meals.
"Oro Temple No. 9 Shriners, Union Draft House, and Girls Scouts Troop 61229 will be on volunteer duty, serving Thanksgiving meals as they’ve done for the last two years! Volunteers are always needed to help during the holidays. Anyone interested in volunteering may call 915-544-9811," the Salvation Army said.
