(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Voyager Parkway bridge is set to open this weekend, but only partially, as construction crews will still be working in the area.
Ryan Phipps, City of Colorado Springs Engineering Program Manager, spoke about the ongoing Powers Boulevard Extension Project and said only one lane in each direction on the Voyager Parkway bridge will be open beginning on Sunday, Nov. 17, as construction will still be ongoing.

Phipps added that crews will be working on both the sidewalks and pedestrian ramps through this winter and hope to fully open the bridge by January or February of 2025. Phipps said the bridge will not only improve circulation in the area but will also limit traffic impacts.
After the bridge's completion, the City's focus will turn to the connection from I-25 to Powers Boulevard over Interquest Parkway. Funding for this portion of the project officially begins next year, but according to the City, will take several years to design, permit, and construct.
The Powers Boulevard Extension project began in November of 2023 and is managed by the Cooper Ridge Metro District. According to the City, beginning next year, and to reimburse the metro district, it will be using Pikes Peak Rural Transit Authority (PPRTA) funds.
