(COLORADO) — The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has resumed full operations after a federal system issue caused a statewide outage for a brief period on Friday, Nov. 15.
All DMV services, including online services, driver's licenses, and ID card services at state and county offices are working and fully functional.
The DMV said the outage is still under investigation.
"The DMV thanks Coloradans for their patience and understanding during the disruption." the DMV wrote.
ORIGINAL TITLE: DMV down due to federal system outage
FRIDAY 11/15/2024 11:35 a.m.
The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is currently down due to a technical issue impacting all state and county driver's license offices.
On Friday, Nov. 15, the DMV said all offices are currently unable to issue driver licenses, instruction permits, and identification cards due to an issue with the national Social Security Online Verification System (SSOLV) — the system that is used to verify social security numbers in compliance with REAL ID.
Online driver's license and ID card services are also unavailable at this time. Services that are currently available include knowledge tests for instruction permits, endorsements and commercial driver's license permits, motor vehicle records, and requests for a hearing.
The DMV is reaching out to anyone who had an appointment planned at a State driver's license office on Friday, Nov. 15 to reschedule them or offer alternative services due to the issue.
Currently, there is no timeline as to when in-office and online services will be restored.
