BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Lockport man pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography after sending sexually explicit photos and videos to someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Friday.
Officials said 52-year-old Gerard Dzierzanowski communicated with an undercover officer posing as a 13-year-old on Whisper and Kik in February 2023. Dzierzanowski sent the officer videos depicting a prepubescent girl engaging in sexual activity with a man, as well as images of child pornography.
The undercover officer repeatedly advised Dzierzanowski that she was 13 years old. He sent a sexually explicit video of himself to her, a 'selfie' of himself, and asked her to engage in sexual activity with him.
Digital items were seized during a search warrant in August 2023 and were found to contain images and videos of child pornography.
Distribution of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum of 20 years. Dzierzanowski faces a $250,000 fine if convicted. Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
