BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An Oklahoma man was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison after his conviction for receipt of child pornography.
David John Ballance, 58, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, also must serve five years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. He must also pay $3,000 in restitution and is ordered to register as a sex offender upon his release.
Ballance admitted that in July 2021 he started to communicate with a 13-year-old minor who was located in the Middle District of Louisiana. The DOJ stated, "Ballance told the minor he was 23 years old, when he was in fact 54 years old, and identified himself by a false name."

The two reportedly met in an online gaming application and moved their conversation to a separate social media platform that allowed one-on-one communication. According to the DOJ, between July 2021 and October 2021, Ballance introduced intimate language to their conversations.
He proceeded to reportedly send images that contained explicit content, knowing that the victim was under the age of 16. According to the DOJ, "the minor then sent explicit images of themself to Ballance via the internet."
According to the DOJ, the image was transferred to Balance through an application that allowed images to remain evident for five seconds. Ballance was able to capture the images "before they disappeared from the social media application."
