Motorcyclist dies after striking median, getting ran over in the South Bay

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- A motorcyclist died Thursday, following a collision on Telegraph Canyon Road in Chula Vista, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 4:44 p.m. when a man riding a 2005 Suzuki GSXR1000, traveling westbound on the 700 block of Telegraph Canyon Road, lost control after striking the center median. According to the Chula Vista Police Department, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and was thrown into the eastbound lanes of traffic.

Moments later, the motorcyclist was struck by a dark gray 2006 Honda Accord, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old woman from Spring Valley, immediately yielded and was unharmed in the incident, police said.
Paramedics and law enforcement officers arrived on the scene shortly after the crash and attempted lifesaving measures on the rider. However, despite their efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
The driver of the Honda Accord is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, the department confirmed. At this time, there are no indications that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The Traffic Bureau is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
