Man fatally wounded after Oakland shooting Thursday

(KRON) -- A man who suffered critical injuries in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Oakland was transported to a hospital and pronounced deceased hours later, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Oakland police responded at 4:15 p.m. to the 1300 block of Madison Street on the report of a person lying in the street. Arriving officers located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound or wounds, and responding paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital.

The man was pronounced deceased just before 9:30 p.m., OPD said in an update. The identity of the shooting victim is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
