WARWICK, R.I. (WLNE) — A woman found guilty of helping her boyfriend after he fled the scene of a deadly car crash in 2022 will serve a total of 10 months in prison, as well as two years and two months in home confinement.
Alicia Peckham, 27, was charged with one count of aiding and abetting a criminal, one count of aiding and abetting the driver who failed to stop after knowingly being involved in a crash that resulted in death, one count of knowingly concealing the commission of a felony, and one count of obstructing an officer in the execution of duty.
Back in 2022, Peckham’s former boyfriend Aramis Segura, was driving under the influence on New Years on I-95 when he collided with 17-year-old Olivia Passaretti, who was driving her car.
The victim’s vehicle rolled into the west shoulder of the highway and landed on its roof after hitting a large tree.
Passaretti was pronounced dead on scene.
Segura would then flee the scene of the car, and call Peckham to come pick him up.
During Peckham’s trial, it was revealed that she lied multiple times to police. Police would later find Segura hiding under the bed at their apartment.
Peckham will serve 10 months in the ACI, with the rest of her sentence to be served in home confinement.
She will be allowed to finish school, and to start her sentence in December.
“I think there needs to be a lot of change in the judicial system, because this isn’t the only case there’s many others,” her family told ABC6 outside of court.
“It’s not a number, it’s not a case, it’s a person, it’s a family.”
Segura pleaded no-contest to his charges, and will be sentenced in the new year.
