ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Attleboro officials are gathering Friday morning to recognize the installation of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at the city's athletic fields. A ribbon cutting will be held at 9 a.m. at the Poncin Hewitt Complex. Sisters At Heart gifted the fire department with eight AEDs, and have since placed them in public spaces across the city. BACKGROUND: Attleboro installing AEDs donated by nonprofit The donation marks a "major step forward" in improving the city’s emergency response to sudden cardiac events, according to officials. In the event of a cardiac emergency, residents are urged to call 911 immediately and start hands-only CPR. The dispatcher will provide the caller with an access code to unlock the AED, which will be securely housed in a weatherproof box. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
