Nov 15, 2024
A 26-year-old man was arrested after a monthslong investigation into several voyeurism and indecent exposure incidents in Southwest Miami-Dade, according to police.
Yoel Antonio Setien Martinez, 26, is facing several charges, which include burglary of an occupied dwelling, voyeurism, indecent exposure, and resisting arrest without violence.
According to Miami-Dade Police, Setien Martinez entered locked fenced backyards and observed women through windows, exposing himself and pleasuring himself.
7News spoke with one of the first women who saw Martinez committing the acts, Friday.
“It’s been hard, it’s been nerve-wracking. I live alone and so it’s been hard.” she said.
The incidents began in May 2024, with the defendant repeatedly seen in the backyards of victims’ homes in Country Walk, staring at them through windows and exposing his genitalia, according to the arrest report.
“He was going from the fence to the roof,” the woman said. “It just seemed like he was getting braver. He wasn’t scared. He didn’t care if you saw him.”
On one occasion, he “left an unknown bodily fluid on a window,” and on several others, he was seen attempting to gain access to the roofs of homes, the report states.
Police later identified Setien Martinez through video surveillance footage, which also showed his distinctive tattoos.
After evading capture during a foot chase on Oct. 22, Setien Martinez was apprehended on Thursday and positively identified by several victims.
He reportedly admitted to the acts and was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
