CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A fixture on the Charlotte and national airwaves for decades, “The John Boy and Billy Show” will no longer be carried by its flagship station starting next week.  A representative from iHeartRadio’s Premiere Networks confirmed that Friday, Nov. 15, will be the show’s final day on WRFX. The morning program recently renewed its syndication agreement with Premiere and currently airs on nearly 50 stations nationwide.  According to a Charlotte Observer article, that number was at 62 in 2017. Fans of the show can continue to listen on the free iHeartRadio app or iHeartRadio.com.  In the Carolinas, the show is still syndicated on WSFL-FM/Greenville, New Bern; WRCQ-FM/Fayetteville; WOBR-FM/Nags Head; WROQ-FM/Greenville; WIWF-FM/Charleston; and WMXT/Florence.   “John Boy and Billy,” featuring John Isley and Billy James, launched in 1980 and has been on WRFX since 1986. They can usually be found on classic rock or country music stations.   The news comes following another syndicated show being dropped by its flagship station. WKQC 104.7 stopped carrying “The Ace & TJ Show” in September, immediately following co-host David “Ace” Cannon’s departure.
