BLACKFORD COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) - Within 24 hours, U.S. Marshals helped capture a central Indiana man who got rid of his ankle monitor and tried escaping to Michigan this week.
According to a Facebook post from the Blackford County Sheriff's Office, Anthony Romano was taken into custody in July 2023 on two counts of rape, one count of criminal confinement and one count of battery.

Following a bond reduction to $2,000, he was released on July 10 of this year under the condition of GPS monitoring, the sheriff's department said.
But he somehow removed his ankle monitor Wednesday and fled to Michigan, police said.
Blackford County authorities reached out to U.S. Marshals for help tracking him down.
"Thanks to their swift action and expertise, Romano was located and safely brought back into custody within 24 hours," police said in the post.
