CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The city of Chicopee is celebrating Puerto Rican Heritage Month. Food banks seeking donations ahead of Thanksgiving Outside of Chicopee City Hall, the Puerto Rican flag-raising brought the community together.  Local city officials and the Mayor of Chicopee recognize the impact Puerto Ricans have across the region.  A festival was also held that included local businesses and gathered people from across the city to celebrate the heritage and what all Puerto Ricans have brought to Chicopee.  "Nothing's impossible, the only thing you can put in your way is yourself. You can't make excuses for yourself," said Ashley Battle, the owner of Beauty Battles Lounge.
