PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Funeral arrangements have been set for Providence Bishop Louis Gelineau.
Gelineau died back on Thursday, November 7.
He served as the sixth Bishop of Providence for more than 25 years,
During his time as bishop, he ordained over 120 to the priesthood, according to officials.
In the 1970s, Gelineau traveled to Haiti, leading him to create the Providence-Haiti Outreach project, starting with the opening of a two-classroom school serving 50 students—which today serves 350 children annually.
All services will all be held this tomorrow at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence.
His burial will be held at a later date.
