FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — GEO Re-entry Services and the Fresno County Probation Department hosted a ceremony that celebrated individuals on probation who have graduated from the intensive reentry program at the Fresno County Day Reporting Center.
19 graduates on probation are graduating from the program to re-enter into the community.
"They help me out a lot. They help us get to the right path where we need to go and it helped me out to like just stay focused and to do good in life," Kobe Berry, a participant in the program said.
Berry showed his gratitude to the volunteers.
"I want to thank the program, the staff and also my case manager, Ms. Briones, she helped me out a lot. She told me to like to make me realize about, like, how good it is to be for my kids," Berry said.
Local community corrections officials, participants' families, friends and volunteers attended the ceremony.
Lumumba Richard says the staff made his time with the program easier.
"They're very good with the kids and things like that with us and they help with a lot of stuff like being successful in life," Richard said.
Angel Duarte, the program manager said at first, participants were hesitant to join the program.
"It isn't an easy program. It is difficult. You know, it does impact people's lives," Duarte said.
However, he said graduating participants are thankful for the outcome.
"They're very happy to be made, the accomplishment they've made and are ready to thank everybody for making them go through this. And so we're very you know, that's kind of a testament to the work that my team does and to their commitment," Duarte said.
