SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- While it seemed to be all sunshine and roses inside Chase Center as the packed arena welcomed back Klay Thompson on Tuesday, that wasn't exactly the case -- at least amongst the players on the court. On his podcast, Draymond Green revealed some anecdotes leading up to the return of a franchise legend as the Warriors and Mavericks faced off in San Francisco. It wasn't all positive vibes between Thompson and Stephen Curry, according to the Warriors forward. Green said on his podcast Wednesday that Stephen Curry was "pissed" before the game because his former Splash Brother "ghosted him." According to Green, Curry contemplated speaking to the crowd before the game but elected not to, saying he had to "lock in" on the game. Curry checked in with Thompson to tell him he wasn't going to speak before the game, according to Green. However, Curry tried to reach Thompson about something else but the Mavericks guard ignored his message. "Curry tried to check in with Klay about something else, and Klay ghosted him. So he got pissed," Green said with a chuckle. "The night could not have gone any better... Thompson played great, incredible, and they lost. That's how we need the night to go." (AP Photo/Jeff Chiu) The seemingly innocent animosity between Curry and Thompson was on display during Golden State's 120-117 win over Dallas. On the first play of the game, Curry took on the defensive assignment to guard Thompson and fouled him. Thompson hit a couple of 3-pointers in the second quarter as he appeared to have turned the clock 10 years back to his best days as a Warrior. The Mavs guard was feeling himself and was seen imitating Curry's shimmy celebration. That prompted a head nod and smirk from Curry. However, Curry got the last laugh. The Warriors superstar took over the game and scored the team's final 12 points, including this clutch 3-pointer that ended up being the dagger. The shot resulted in Curry likely being the most animated he'll ever be for a regular-season game in November. Curry led Golden State (9-2) to victory by scoring a game-high 37 points. "It hurts to be on the other side of a Steph Curry flurry," Thompson, who dropped 22 points and six 3-pointers, said after the game. Curry said he "literally blacked out" on the first play when guarding Thompson, adding he thought he was in training camp. The Splash Brothers were universally regarded as the greatest shooting backcourt of all time -- setting the single-season record for combined 3-pointers (531) amongst teammates during the 2015-16 season. Thompson also has the NBA single-game record for 3-pointers made (14) while Curry's record is 13. It may be hard for some to fathom the fact these two have tension off the court. However, some fans could also have overestimated the closeness of the Splash Brothers off the court. The Warriors' next game is on Friday, Nov. 15 as they host the Memphis Grizzlies (7-5). The Mavericks (5-6) play Thursday night in Utah against the Jazz (2-8).
