(KRON) -- This year, Pigeon Point -- the unmissable beacon off Highway 1 in San Mateo County – kicked off a $16 million restoration project that, once complete, will allow visitors inside for the first time in two decades. KRON4 News took a trip 50 miles south of San Francisco – to see how the repairs are going. Rain, king tides, high surf to impact Bay Area Pigeon Point celebrates its 152nd anniversary on Saturday afternoon with special tours, crafts, a book signing, and an update on the restoration process. That's followed by a special lighting of the lens at 5 p.m. Make sure you bring a flashlight.
