Morongo Charity Golf Tournament raises more than $150,000

Hundreds golfed for good causes at the 28th Annual Morongo Charity Golf Tournament.
The two-day event, which started Monday, Oct. 21, raised money for youths and to help safeguard Native American children and tribal culture, a news release states.

Staged at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon, the fundraiser collected $100,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass, $25,000 for the National Indian Child Welfare Association and $25,000 for California Indian Culture and Sovereignty Center at Cal State San Marcos.

Morongo Thunder & Lightning Powwow returns for 2024
“From creating positive pathways for local youth and families, to strengthening protections for tribal children and preserving the cultural history of local tribes, the organizations benefiting from this year’s Morongo Charity Golf Tournament each play a vital role in our communities,” Morongo Tribal Vice Chair James Silva, co-chair of the tournament, said in the release.
Megan Grisham, director of operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass, said in the release that Morongo’s donations over the years “have helped thousands of local students and their families.”
Since 1997, the tournament has generated more than $2.8 million for dozens of nonprofit groups.
