THE LATEST: CHARLOTTE, NC – A 32-year-old Concord man is accused of killing a 33-year-old woman on Strive Street in northeast Charlotte. The deadly shooting happened Wednesday afternoon. According to court documents, Dasean Maddox is charged with first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Maddox is accused of killing Jameisha Wilkes and taking her cell phone. ORIGINAL STORY: (POSTED 11/3/24) CHARLOTTE, NC – Police were called to a shooting Wednesday afternoon on Strive Street in northeast Charlotte. The shooting happened just before 3:30pm at the Ascent at Mallard Creek Road apartments. Police say when they arrived on scene, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She died at the scene. Neighbors say they heard multiple gunshots in the middle of the day. The victim’s name has not been released at this time and there is no word on arrests. Some people living in the area say they are moving out because of safety concerns. “You just don’t feel safe,” Resident Angela Benia said. “You’re paying a lot of money and the apartments are beautiful but if you don’t have safety what good is a beautiful apartment?” Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
