It's taken some time, but rain has finally spread across the entire DMV as we head into the evening. The most consistent steady rainfall is down to the southwest, across portions of Northern VA. The more northeast you go into MD, the more light and scattered the rain is. Regardless, this soggy weather is expected to continue into the night in some form for fashion, giving us a damp end to our Thursday. Chilly temperatures in the 40s and 50s are expected to remain locked in place with the clouds and rain around. By the time all is said and done, around an inch of rain is expected across portions of VA and western MD, with lighter amounts around a quarter to a half an inch across north-central MD and DC. Light winds and fresh rain will lead to areas of fog by early tomorrow morning, so be cautious out there. Any fog will dissipate by mid-morning, but cloud cover will be tough to break up as we head later in the day. The low responsible for bringing this latest round of rain will be spinning away off the coast of the Carolinas, making it challenging to clear the cloudiness. Gradual clearing will finally take hold through the afternoon, allowing temperatures to bounce back into the upper 50s. As drier air takes hold, we'll have more sunshine on tap for the upcoming weekend and warmer temperatures. High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will reach into the 60s despite a breezy northerly wind on Saturday. Dry conditions will stick around into early next week as the next frontal boundary approaches. Temperatures will continue to warm up on Monday before that next front arrives, reaching the upper 60s under a partly cloudy sky. Temperatures will drop some as the weak cold front crosses through on Monday night, but little to no rain is expected. Highs will remain in the lower 60s, with lows in the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday before the pattern turns more unsettled toward the end of next week. Clouds will return on Wednesday ahead of this next system, which should bring some soggy weather and colder air in the following Thursday to Friday timeframe. Stay dry out there, and have a great night! 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Cloudy with rain continuing and areas of fog late.
