Now closed: Walgreens on Monroe Avenue in Rochester
Nov 14, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Walgreens on Monroe Avenue in Rochester closed Thursday. The pharmacy and convenience store shuttered at 3 p.m.
It was part of five locations Walgreens closed in the Rochester area. The 1490 Lake Avenue location is scheduled to close on November 19.
Walgreens has said the decisions were based on profitability, adding they are no longer able to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs at the Main Street store, and beyond.
“While it is not an easy decision to close a store, we will work to minimize customer disruptions,” the company said in a statement. “We intend to redeploy the majority of our team members and offer our dedicated team members new roles at other locations.”
Walgreens has said it is working with the City to have a pharmacy take over the Main Street location.
