ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Sunday's game against the undefeated Chiefs is the biggest matchup of the year so far for the Bills. It's a rematch of last season's AFC Divisional Round, where Kansas City took a 27-24 win in Buffalo on its path to winning the Super Bowl. The hype around the Week 11 game goes beyond Bills and Chiefs fans — many are regarding it as the game of the year for the NFL. Despite the outside noise, Sean McDermott has done a good job of muting the excitement in his locker room. The head coach's approach is to treat every week the same. "I think players, athletes, crave that, too. Just some form of normalcy," McDermott said. "They don't live, quote-unquote, 'sometimes normal lives,' and so that normalcy is sometimes welcomed. Day in and day out." Players seem to welcome this approach, as it gets them ready for the game without outside distractions. Cam Lewis said the weekly process helps him prepare for Sundays. "That process, and starting it over week by week, it helps you get in the flow of things. Which we need to do on Wednesday, Thursday, trying to get your body right and stuff like that," he said. Taylor Rapp also attested to McDermott's philosophy of treating each week as "normal," regardless of the opponent and stakes of the game. "It reduces some anxiousness, whatever anxiety you have. Obviously there's a bunch of outside noise, talking about 'Oh, you play who and so,' and stuff like that," Rapp said. "The way we can do it is treat every week the same." Keeping the same mentality through each week, Lewis added, also helps him physically. "It grounds you a little bit, just because you know what you have to do," Lewis said. "Especially with me, I don't have to set alarms, my body knows what's going on week to week." Despite a lot of the noise surrounding Sunday's game focused on Josh Allen, the quarterback doesn't seem to making many adjustments in how he is going about his week. He trusts the process and has seen the results it has gotten his team so far this season. "What we're doing in house here, the way that we're practicing, the way that we're talking to each other, we're just going to keep trusting that," Allen said. "It's gotten us to 8-2 thus far."
