KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A total of 77 people have been arrested Thursday following operation "Royal Flush" conducted by multiple agencies across the Central Valley, the Kings County Sheriff's Office announced.
Kings County Sheriff's Office's Undersheriff Rick Bradford says that on Thursday morning, law enforcement agencies across the Central Valley served approximately 52 search warrants and arrested 77 people.
During the search warrants, Bradford says that approximately 32 firearms were uncovered and seized.
The joint operation began in September of this year.
According to Bradford, in June 2023 the county's major crime task force noticed a rise in local street gang violence associated with one street gang.
Bradford says that they identified the street gang members to be present in Hanford, Kettlemen City, Lemoore, Stratford, Corcoran and Armona.
According to Kings County's District Attorney, Sarah Hacker, the county saw a spike in gang violence involving the street gang and their rivals, another two street gangs.
She says this is reflected in the rise of gang-related homicides, drive-by shootings, assaults, illegal gun trafficking and illegal narcotic sales.
Hacker mentioned that three homicide cases were solved, two of them being in the Central Valley, and the DA's Office filed against the suspects.
The first case Hacker mentions is a case from October 2023 in Avenal, where the victim was found unresponsive in his wheelchair. Hacker says they arrested 10 suspects, eight of them being juveniles and two of them adults.
Hacker says they filed charges against three suspects in connection to a shooting in Corcoran on Dec. 27, 2023. Two of the suspects are in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation's custody.
