Recalled Alameda County DA to hold first press conference since election

(KRON) -- On Thursday, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price will hold her first press conference since officially being recalled in last week's election. Price, who was recalled decisively by 64% of county voters, announced a press conference concerning criminal charges related to the in-custody death of an inmate.

Nine deputies and two medical staffers have been charged in connection to the death of Maurice Monk, who died while incarcerated in Santa Rita County Jail. Monk died in custody November of 2021.
According to DA Price, he may have been dead for three days by the time his body was discovered. His family was later awarded around $7 million from the county in a lawsuit.
Price, who was recalled along with Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, has yet to concede or speak publicly following the successful recall vote.
