EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WSAV) - The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) Drug Suppression Unit, with assistance from the Rincon Police Department (RPD) K-9 Unit and Georgia State Patrol, arrested a man and seized thousands of dollars worth of drugs on Wednesday. William Frank Davis, 37, of Guyton was the subject of a surveillance operation on November 13. Davis, a wanted person, has been a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into the sale of methamphetamine and Fentanyl throughout Bryan, Chatham, and Effingham Counties.   Just before 8:30 p.m., members of the ECSO Drug Suppression Unit, ECSO Special Response Team (SRT) and Georgia State Patrol Troopers attempted to make contact with Davis at a residence in the Shadowbrook Subdivision. He fled on foot from the residence and left behind a large quantity of Fentanyl and Methamphetamine. The RPD K-9 Unit then apprehended Davis shortly thereafter. The ECSO Drug Suppression Unit seized 1803 grams (3.97 pounds) of methamphetamine, 1336 grams of Fentanyl (2.94 pounds), 113 grams (4 ounces) of marijuana, 1 firearm, and items associated with the production of Fentanyl. Evidence collected indicated that Davis was solely responsible for the narcotics that were seized.  The estimated street value of these seized drugs ranges, based on purity and quantity, between $50,000 - $120,000. Davis was arrested and charged with trafficking Fentanyl, trafficking Methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and 2 counts of possession of a schedule II-controlled substance.
