The State of Sport will begin its first winter season since the International Olympic Committee selected Salt Lake City-Utah to be the host of the 2034 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Utah will welcome over a dozen events in partnership with 10 international sport federations and national governing bodies for events at venues from the 2002 Winter Games.“These events are a testament to Utah’s strong sport and Olympic legacy, and they also provide a brief glimpse into the energy and excitement the world can expect in 2034,” said Jeff Robbins, president and CEO of the Utah Sports Commission.Over half of this winter’s events will showcase youth and junior athletes competing at both national and international championship levels. Summer sports will feature, too. The Salt Palace Convention Center will hold the USA Volleyball Girls 18s National Qualifier, a precursor to the national championship in the spring, and USA Judo Youth Nationals will return to the state for the first time since 2021.Here is the 2024-25 winter schedule for The State of Sport:Dec. 3-7 | IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton North American Cup and Junior Pan American Championships | Utah Olympic ParkDec. 14 | FIL Luge Youth Continental Cup | Utah Olympic ParkDec. 28 and 30-31 | U.S. Biathlon Youth and Junior Championships and International Team Trials | Soldier HollowJan. 3-5 | U.S. Short Track Junior Championships and World Tour Qualifier | Utah Olympic OvalJan. 8-12 and 18-19 | IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton North American Cup | Utah Olympic ParkJan. 10-12 | U.S. Speed Skating World Cup Qualifier and Open Masters Championships | Utah Olympic OvalJan. 24-26 | USA Volleyball Salt Lake City Showdown Girls 18s National Qualifier | Salt Palace Convention CenterFeb. 6-8 | Intermountain Health Freestyle International | Deer ValleyFeb. 12-13 | FIS Moguls NorAm Cup | Deer ValleyFeb. 14-15 | FIS Aerials NorAm Cup | Utah Olympic ParkFeb. 27 | U.S. Nordic Combined Junior Championships | Utah Olympic ParkMarch 10-15 | U.S. Cross Country Junior Championships | Solder HollowMarch 17-23 | U.S. Freestyle Junior Championships | Utah Olympic ParkMarch 29-30 | USA Judo Youth National Championships | Salt Palace Convention CenterThe post State of Sport to host over a dozen events in first season as host of 2034 Games appeared first on Park Record.
