The injury bug will keep Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin sidelined for at least another day. Brodin, who suffered an upper-body injury in the overtime loss in Chicago on Sunday, missed practice Wednesday and was absent from the team’s Thursday morning skate before the Montreal game. “He’s going to be out tonight, but I would label him as day-to-day,” Wild coach John Hynes said after the team had a light skate at TRIA Rink on Thursday morning. Hynes added that he had just gotten word of the absence and said that they would put together a roster plan prior to puck drop. He added that recent call-ups Daemon Hunt and Michael Milne would not be on the ice versus the Canadiens. Forward Marcus Johansson, who had missed Wednesday’s practice because of illness, was on the ice and good to go Thursday. Same for defenseman Zach Bogosian, who missed Wednesday’s team activities for personal reasons. Hutson one to watch for USA Hockey Over two standout seasons on the blue line at Boston University, defenseman Lane Hutson ran much of the Terriers offense from the back end and helped the program reach the NCAA Frozen Four twice. Now in his first season with the Canadiens, Hutson had double-digit assists in his first 16 games and is making the splash some predicted he would. “That kid’s a great skater and has a ton of skill. He does some things you don’t expect him to do. He’s very active in the offensive zone,” said Hynes, who is a BU grad himself. “He’s a highly talented kid and another one you have to be aware of.” With Hynes’ involvement with USA Hockey and Hutson’s past as a gold medal winner at the 2024 World Juniors, many expect the Chicago-area product to be manning the American blue line in the future. (Abbie Parr / Associated Press)   With Thanksgiving fast approaching, the Wild will get into the holiday spirit nearly two weeks early, holding a fan fest and turkey giveaway Friday afternoon in Maplewood. From 1 to 4 p.m. at Aldrich Arena, the team, in conjunction with Minnesota-based Jennie-O, will give away turkeys to fans, while supplies last. Wild players Marat Khusnutdinov, Jakub Lauko and Marco Rossi are scheduled to sign autographs from 2:15 to 3 p.m. Rossi, who is from Austria, said he first came to the United States in December 2021 and just missed that first Thanksgiving season. He is relatively new to the traditions of a big meal, football on TV and manic shopping the next day. “I’ve got not much experience with that,” Rossi said, adding that he hadn’t sampled an abundance of turkey before coming to Minnesota. “I’ve tried it at Thanksgiving. In Austria we don’t really eat it, but when you’re here, all the Americans are going to celebrate it, and we will be together as a team. I enjoy it.” The event, at 1850 White Bear Ave. in Maplewood, is free and open to the public. Per the National Turkey Federation, farmers in Minnesota produced 40.5 million turkeys in 2021, which was far and away the most in the country.
