BOSTON (WPRI) — A teenager from Providence took the court at TD Garden on Tuesday to be honored by the Boston Celtics.
During the team's home game, 14-year-old Emilio Santana was named a "Hero Among Us" for raising more than $1,500 to make a wig for an 8-year-old girl who lost her hair while being treated for cancer.
In addition to the money raised, Santana also donated 24 inches of his own hair.
The "Heroes Among Us" program was started by the team back in 1997.
