MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Data from MPD shows 29 homicides this year in the 38127 Zip code in Frayser, a reflection of what some in the area say are specific streets that are crime-ridden.
Thursday, city leaders and the White House announced a new joint effort that many hope will keep Memphians safe.
"The whole neighborhood tired of it," said Aaron Turman, a concerned father on Ardmore Street in Frayser, where he says crime scene tape is a constant.
MPD's Data Hub shows 10 crimes on this block in the past two weeks.

"They really want them to sell they house and leave because they just promote violence. Nothing positive," Turman said.
Thursday Memphis Mayor Young, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris and other leaders announced the Joint Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement.
The joint office is set to direct more federal dollars and grants to local organizations and non-profits..
"One of the things I'd like to see is as to really get a grip on what's happening in Zip codes, and if they're hotspots out there, to be able to respond to those hotspots," Mayor Young said. "To really pour resources into those areas to make sure that we're making some efforts to turn those areas around."

Pastor Ricky Floyd who works to improve Frayser through opportunies and outreach hopes it will help.
"A lot of times when I hear the word new, I think here we go with a different old," Floyd said. "But I'm hopeful this time because you're seeing the county mayor and the, the city mayor potentially come together. So it's almost like a truce in government. Eastside and West Side coming together.
