UNION CITY, Ind. — An Ohio man was charged after molesting two boys for several years in Randolph County. Kevin W. Smith, a 59-year-old Ohio man, was charged with the following: 1 count of Rape, a Level 1 Felony 5 counts of Child Molestation, a Level 1 Felony 1 count of Vicarious Sexual Gratification, a Level 2 Felony Officers from the Union City Police Department were contacted by two victims who reported multiple occurrences of sexual abuse in early November. According to court documents, the first victim said that he was assaulted beginning in August 2016. Victim 1 said that he was asleep and he woke up to Smith wrapping an electric cord around his neck. Smith then reportedly raped the victim. Further, Victim 1 described several occasions of sexual abuse to officers, but he also said Smith threatened to kill him if he ever told anyone. The victim claimed that if he told his parents they would not believe him. In a separate incident, Victim 1 was forced to have sex with another child, identified here as victim 2, while Smith watched with a shotgun in his hand and said, "I'll shoot your *** if you stop." At one point, Smith pulled out a knife and held it up to the victims if they did stop. Smith also touched himself during the attack. Victim 2 also described a series of similar sexual attacks orchestrated by Smith. While Smith initially denied the allegations, he later claimed that his medication may have made his decision making "inadequate". Smith admitted that he molested the victims dozens of times when they were children. This is an active investigation. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
