Nov 14, 2024
TIPTON, Ind. — A new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, or DORA, is heading to the City of Tipton, the city announced on Wednesday.
According to a press release, the DORA was previously approved by the Tipton City Common Council in September and is set "...to enhance the downtown experience and support local businesses."
This outdoor area will allow Tipton residents and visitors alike to enjoy alcoholic beverages in outdoor areas and in specific establishment throughout the city, Tipton wrote.
"Establishing Tipton's [DORA] presents an exciting opportunity to enhance the downtown experience," Mayor Kegon Schmicker said. "By encouraging visitors to stay longer and explore, we aim to increase the time and money spent in our local shops and restaurants, fostering a more vibrant community for both residents and guests."
According to Tipton, this DORA will go into effect on Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. It will be active from noon to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Special event organizers can also request amended hours for specific occasions, the city wrote.
Tipton also provided a map of the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, which can be viewed below.
