PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. (WGHP) — A very dreary and cold day across the Triad with over a half inch of rain falling in several locations. Temperatures have remained steady in the 40s all day long, and we'll remain in the mid-40s through the evening hours. As we approach the evening hours, rain will begin to taper off from west to east with many drying out by 8 PM.  We'll see clouds linger during the early overnight hours, but skies become partly cloudy close to sunrise and temperatures drop into the low 40s to start Friday. The end of our work week will be a little breezy with northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph. Skies will gradually become mostly sunny into the late afternoon hours with high temperatures reaching the low 60s.  High pressure dominates our weekend weather which means we'll continue to see temperatures warm up and skies will remain mostly sunny. We'll be in the 40s both Saturday and Sunday mornings with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid-60s.  Partly cloudy skies return Monday and Tuesday, and temperatures continue to climb. Both mornings will be in the mid to upper 40s and each afternoon will be close to 70 degrees.  The chance for rain returns in the middle part of next week with isolated showers possible starting Wednesday. Morning temperatures will be in the mid-50s, and afternoon highs will reach the upper 60s. Mostly cloudy skies and stray showers remain possible into Thursday with a slight temperature cool down. We'll start the day in the low 50s with highs reaching the low 60s.
