A weather system brought us much-needed widespread rainfall last night into early this morning. While the heaviest rain has now tapered off, a persistent mist/drizzle has stuck around. Check out the low visibility on our Lake James Dry Dock Marine Center camera from around 4 PM this afternoon. Low clouds and mist are seen up at Lake James Thursday afternoon. Look for this mist/drizzle to last into the evening hours before slowly tapering off tonight. After midnight, we should be mainly dry. Take the umbrella with you to be on the safe side if you have plans. Temperatures will only dip down into the mid-to-upper 40s overnight, as a result of overcast skies being in place. We're drying out past midnight tonight, as mist/drizzle slowly tapers off.Clouds stick around though and temperatures only dip into the mid-to-upper 40s. Clouds will stick around on Friday and there remains the ever so slight chance for a stray rain shower, mainly during the daytime hours. Temperatures will stay slightly above average in the low-to-mid 50s. Overcast skies and a stray shower chance are in store on Friday.High temperatures will reach the low-to-mid 50s. For the weekend, we anticipate some sunshine to appear on Saturday, with highs in the mid-50s. We'll then go back to overcast on Sunday, with the chance for a few stray rain showers in the forecast. Highs Sunday will climb up to around 60°. Not much sunshine will be found this weekend, but we will be above average. We'll be dry on Monday before our next notable weather system arrives on Tuesday, bringing occasional rain showers. Temperatures will rise from the upper 50s Monday to the mid-60s on Tuesday. After Tuesday, the forecast becomes a bit less clear, as the weather system responsible for Tuesday's rain will stall out. The strength of this low pressure system and where it ultimately meanders will determine how cold we get late in the week, how windy we get, and if any snowflakes will be in the mix.
