FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) ---A South Bend hotel developer is looking to build a 104-room Marriott Courtyard and condo complex on a 13-acre stretch on West Jefferson Boulevard. JSK Hospitality, owner of 15 hotels, has acquired 13 tracts of mostly single-family homes in one of the remaining undeveloped areas located in the 7300 block of West Jefferson. The hotel is designed to sit on West Jefferson Boulevard with two separate condo buildings behind the hotel that will access Aboite Road and Cadillac Drive, according to plans submitted to the Fort Wayne Plan Commission. The design will be modern, echoing current trends with "woods, steel, grays, soft whites, very modern," Michael Blanton, JSK’s vice president of operations, said Thursday. The layout includes an access road that will alleviate traffic on West Jefferson, especially "turnarounds," that so many drivers are forced to use, Blanton said. The firm is working with the city's traffic engineers. "When we touch something, we always do it right," Blanton said. JSK wants to build between 30 and 40 condos in two mixed-use buildings that would offer retail and restaurants, besides housing. The condos are expected to cost between $250,000 and $320,000, The $60 million project, close to Lutheran Hospital and retail and office buildings across the road, will create 150 jobs, Blanton said. In order to proceed with the proposal, JSK will appear in front of the plan commission Dec. 9, seeking rezoning that will allow a three-story hotel.    The project close to other hotels and Lutheran Hospital will create 150 jobs and offer restaurants and retail besides housing.
