(CNN)– Satirical news site “The Onion” has won the bidding wars for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars.
The amount of the bid has not been announced but it was backed by several families of the Sandy Hook victims.
As a result of the purchase, The Onion now owns Infowars’ intellectual property, including its website and the production equipment used to put Jones on air.
Jones slammed the sale on social media, and claimed it was unconstitutional.
The company was being auctioned off to help pay the more than $1 billion he owes the families of the victims.
