Nov 14, 2024
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Looking for a non-traditional way to celebrate Thanksgiving with the whole family and give back to the community? Try a turkey trot.
Charleston’s Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble 5K returns for its 47th year in 2024.
The race begins and ends at Marion Square, looping participants down and around some of Charleston’s most historic neighborhoods.
On the route, competitors will spot some local landmarks, such as the historic market, The Mills House Hotel, and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, before finishing in front of the Francis Marion Hotel.
Racers can line up Thanksgiving Day between 7 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. with the start time set for 9 a.m.
Once runners cross the finish line, they are invited to celebrate with music, free food, and beer. A subsequent awards ceremony is scheduled. Prizes will be handed out to the top 10 male and female finishers.
Do you have kids 10 years old and under who want to join in on the fun? Sign them up for the children’s fun run beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the race will benefit local charities, according to event organizers. To learn more and sign up, visit turkeydayrun.com.
