BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- One American Place was sold Wednesday in an East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office auction for nearly $20 million.
According to records on the EBRSO website, Wilmington Trust National Association placed a bid and won for a price of $19,966,666.
The skyscraper known as the second-tallest building in downtown Baton Rouge was seized after a lawsuit was filed earlier this year. The owner allegedly owed almost $24 million in mortgage to plaintiff Wilmington Trust National Association.
Court documents showed that One American Place borrowed $31.5 million from JP Morgan Chase in 2018.
According to the Downtown Development District, One American Place was constructed in 1974 and stands 308 feet tall with 24 floors.
