LA MESA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 4900 block of Clearview Way in La Mesa Thursday morning. A spokesperson with Heartland Fire & Rescue said a call initially came in at 6:58 a.m., with an individual reporting that a vehicle and trailer had caught fire next to a home. That blaze was reported to have then spread to the nearby home. Firefighters responded to the scene and determined the situation to be a second alarm fire. This means that the response required additional resources, such as more support personnel and equipment. Officials with the La Mesa Police Department said units were assisting the fire department with traffic control in the area of Hillside Drive and Clearview Way as crews battled the blaze. The area is expected to be closed to traffic for several hours. The spokesperson also said there are no reported injuries at this time. The Red Cross was notified to assist residents that may be displaced due to the fire. No further information was immediately released. This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
