(KRON) -- A fatal pedestrian collision Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield shut down all lanes before reopening just after 7 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation from CHP indicated that a pedestrian ran into traffic on eastbound I-80 and was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian suffered major injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene, CHP said.
The driver of the involved vehicle stopped and is cooperating with law enforcement. CHP said driving under the influence is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
