LAST WEEK: The Lions defeated William Paterson and CNU defeated Montclair State, 33-10
SIGNIFICANCE: Final game of the season.
TCNJ SCOUTING REPORT: The Lions have the chance to have their best record since the 2011 team was 7-3. It’s quite an accomplishment for this class of fifth-year players and seniors as they have taken a program that came in under a cloud of Covid and now have gone from a 5-5 season in 2023 to the potential of seven this year. Christopher Newport is a very good team will not make it easy. TCNJ will have to do what it does best, throw the ball effectively with Trevor Bopp at quarterback, run the ball with Jayson Schmidt and play solid defense. They have done a good job defensively and will need to create turnovers and force CNU into third and long situations,
CNU SCOUTING REPORT: The Captains started the year going 2-3 losing to nationally ranked Johns Hopkins and Salisbury along with Dickinson. Since then they are 4-0 and averaging 33.9 points a game and giving up just 11.2 a contest and they are the top rated defense in the NJAC. Quarterback Connor Barry, who has just one interception in 175 attempts, has thrown for 1,818 yards. Colin Hart and Trey Hayes are the top receivers and Noah Martin leads the defense. These two teams are very similar and it might come down to turnovers.
KEY MATCHUP: TCNJ defensive line controlling the line of scrimmage
