Deer Valley debuts new ski trail map showing ongoing upgrades
Nov 14, 2024
Thursday, Deer Valley introduced its new ski trail map, which includes new artwork and an updated aerial projection to reflect the terrain expansion for the 2024-25 season. The map coincides with the completion of the first phase of the resort’s Expanded Excellence initiative—a multi-year development including Deer Valley East Village, the skier terrain expansion, a reimagined Snow Park including a new base village, and updates to existing mountain facilities. The resort said the map is “carefully crafted to reflect Deer Valley’s expanded skier terrain and elevated guest experience” that will serve as both a visual guide for guests and an “artistic tribute to Deer Valley’s mountain landscape.” Illustrator and graphic designer Rad Smith hand-painted the trail map. “Smith has dedicated his career to breathing new life into ski map artistry to create maps that celebrate both the spirit and the scenic landscapes of mountain resorts,” read a press release. “Using an aerial perspective to accurately portray the resort’s varied terrain, chairlifts and amenities, the new trail map merges artistry with precision, making it easy for guests to navigate Deer Valley’s newly accessible expanded terrain.” The map shows three new chairlifts — Keetley Express, Hoodoo Express and Aurora —and should help skiers navigate the new terrain, which includes beginner-friendly runs and connections to existing terrain near Sultan Express chairlift on Bald Mountain, the resort said. A behind-the-scenes video showing Smith’s creative process is available to watch at the following URL: vimeo.com/1026631730. “Deer Valley’s new trail map is more than just a guide to our expanded terrain; it’s a work of art that captures the essence and intricacies of our mountain landscape,” said Susie English, vice president of marketing. “This map not only provides a preview of this year’s enhancements and the new terrain coming in future seasons, but it also showcases our dedication to elevating every aspect of the guest experience. With the Expanded Excellence project, we’re creating even more opportunities for skiers t enjoy Deer Valley.” Deer Valley’s plans for the 2025-26 season include doubling its skiable terrain. The resort said that future phases will introduce six more chairlifts, a 10-passenger gondola, nearly 100 new trails and additional “enhanced guest amenities.” The new map will evolve to display those ongoing upgrades. To explore the new trail map, view expanded terrain details, or learn more about Deer Valley’s Expanded Excellence initiative, visit deervalley.com.The post Deer Valley debuts new ski trail map showing ongoing upgrades appeared first on Park Record.
