Juewei Food sells everything from duck heads to pig ears and stinky tofu A wonderland of Chinese snacks, from marinated meats and vegetables to simmered skewers and fried treats, has arrived in Kearny Mesa. Juewei Food lands in the Convoy Pointe Plaza Shopping Center on Convoy Street where Pacific Coast Commercial helped owner Serena Wang secure a spot next to Bonchon Chicken.
Though Juewei has the same name as a mega-chain known throughout Asia, it’s not affiliated, although it is connected to a similar spot called Jue Wei Kitchen in LA County’s San Gabriel Valley.
Wang, who’s lived in San Diego for several years, tells Eater that she was inspired to open Juewei after missing the snack shops she used to frequent in her hometown of Dalian, China.

Displayed in refrigerated cases at the counter-service establishment, the offerings include duck heads, necks, gizzards, wings, and other duck parts that have been braised and seasoned with a mala spice featuring numbing-hot Sichuan peppercorns. The menu is extensive, with options ranging from pig ears and pork stomach to sliced lotus root, kelp knots, and quail eggs.

There are also skewers of meat such as chicken tenders, beef, and sausage that can be ordered with different flavorings including five-spice, extra spicy, and sour and sweet. Other snacks include fried eggplant, stinky tofu in a chili sauce, and crispy squid. Although there are a few tables in the space, the shop is mostly geared towards takeout business, with much of the menu also available for delivery via the Hungry Panda app.
