Lingering clouds and showers for Thursday
Nov 14, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Thursday! Most of the area has received over an inch of rain since Wednesday evening, with lingering scattered showers in the forecast today. The heaviest of the rain has passed to the east so don’t expect a steady rain like what occurred overnight. The rain we will see today will be scattered after the overnight wave moves eastward during the morning hours. Temperatures today will be limited with most areas in the mid-to-upper 50s. We keep the cloud cover with us overnight with a few showers possible as well.
As you head out the door on Friday you can expect cloudy skies with a brief shower or two possible. Friday morning temperatures will likely be in the mid-to-upper 40s. We will keep the cloud cover around through most of the day on Friday and it will likely be a few degrees colder than Thursday.
Skies will finally break throughout the day on Saturday which will lead to a pleasant weekend forecast. The temperatures will hit the upper 50s near 60 Saturday afternoon. With the skies clearing out Saturday night, you can expect a chilly start to Sunday. That won’t last long though as afternoon highs are expected to return to the low-to-mid 60s.
We keep the unseasonably mild air around to start next week ahead of a big pattern change on the way late week. We are expected a stout shot of cold air to move in after a pair of systems move through the area Tuesday into Wednesday. This will give us a couple rain chances Tuesday into Wednesday before the coldest air moves in by the end of the week and into the weekend. The timing of the coldest air is still a bit up in the air, but we do expect it to be in place by the weekend. Afternoon highs by Friday and the weekend will likely struggle to get out of the 40s. And yes, some flurries will be possible. But please temper your expectations… We are still really far out and nothing is set in stone.
