Hornets unveil new City Edition uniform for 202425 season
Nov 14, 2024
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Charlotte Hornets unveiled a new Nike NBA City Edition uniform on Thursday to be worn during the 2024-25 NBA season.
With a mint green silhouette, and granite and gold accents, the uniform is a continuation of the story of the first-ever U.S. Mint – which was established in Charlotte following the Carolina Gold Rush of the early 1800s – and is the final chapter of the Charlotte Hornets City Edition Minted Uniform series that was introduced in 2020-21. The final “minted uniform” was launched in conjunction with a full creative campaign featuring Brandon Miller, which juxtaposes the minted chapter with a new era of Hornets basketball.
“We’re pleased to introduce a new City Edition uniform to be worn this season during our various City-themed nights,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment Chief Marketing Officer Seth Bennett. “From the very start, our uniforms have been bold and fashionable, putting style front and center, and this uniform is no different. The minted story has always really resonated with our fans, and Charlotte, and is a chapter that we are proud to celebrate.”
The jersey features the classic “Charlotte” wordmark across the chest, with black letters and numbers on the front and back of the jersey outlined in gold trim.
The coin-ridged pinstripes from the previous minted uniforms return on both the jersey and the shorts, alternating in granite and gold, while the neck, arm and leg openings include granite and gold trim.
Just above the jocktag on the left front of the jersey is the familiar “CLT” abbreviation in black next to a gold rendering of Queen Charlotte, the city’s namesake.
Like all Hornets uniforms, the right chest of the City Edition jersey features the Jumpman logo of NIKE, Inc.’s Jordan Brand.
The shorts feature a unique 704 logo, in which the “0” is the familiar hexagon pattern resembling honeycombs, with “Buzz City” written inside. A gold and granite version of the team’s secondary logo is included on the outside of each leg.
The Hornets will wear the City Edition uniform for 10 home games and seven road games this season, beginning with the Saturday, November 16, contest against the Milwaukee Bucks at Spectrum Center.
Additional home games where the City Edition uniform will be worn include Saturday, November 30, against the Atlanta Hawks; Saturday, December 7, against the Cleveland Cavaliers; Saturday, December 28, against the Oklahoma City Thunder; Monday, December 30 against the Chicago Bulls; Friday, January 24 against the Portland Trailblazers; Saturday, January 25 against the New Orleans Pelicans; Friday, January 31 against the Los Angeles Clippers; Saturday, February 1 against the Denver Nuggets and finally on Friday, February 7, against the San Antonio Spurs.
During the 10 home games, the Hornets will bring back the matching City Edition court that debuted in 2020-21 for its final year. City-themed games will also feature a special player intro, entertainment team outfitting, giveaways at select games and more.
City Edition jerseys and accompanying merchandise are available at the Hornets Fan Shop at Spectrum Center, HornetsFanShop.com and other retail outlets beginning today.
The Hornets Fan Shop is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during Hornets home games.
