BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A person is dead following a crash between an SUV and a semi-truck north of Lamont, according to California Highway Patrol. CHP said a Freightliner pulling two tanks trailers was on East Fairview Rd., turning northbound onto Weedpatch Highway. A Nissan heading north on the highway was unable to avoid the semi-truck and the front of the Nissan collided with the left side of the first tank trailer. Coroner ID’s passenger who died after East Truxtun Ave. crash The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner stopped and remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The crash happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Panama Lane at Weedpatch Highway was temporarily shut down during the investigation. Officials are still investigating if alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
