NEWPORT NEWS, Va.(WAVY)-- Police in Newport News are investigating a crash that left a person dead. According to dispatch, officers were called to the intersection of Jefferson Ave and Mercury Blvd at 12:17 a.m. for the report of a crash. After investigating, it was revealed a car failed to yield at a red light and struck a driver who was going through a green light. The driver who was going through the green light died at the scene. The other driver has non life-threatening injuries, police said.
